Sprains & Strains
Sprains and strains are common soft-tissue injuries that affect muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They often occur during sports, exercise, or sudden movements such as twisting or falling. Prompt evaluation helps prevent long-term weakness or re-injury.
Common symptoms include:
- Pain, tenderness, or stiffness around a joint or muscle
- Swelling or bruising at the site of injury
- Limited range of motion or difficulty bearing weight
- A “popping” sensation at the time of injury
How we can help:
Our providers perform a careful physical exam and, if needed, x-rays to rule out fractures. We also refer for same day MRI or CT scans. Treatment may include rest, bracing, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications. For more serious injuries, we can provide referrals for physical therapy or orthopedic care.
